Michael Nielson - Administrator


Michael Nielson is the Administrator at Carrington Court. Michael received his Bachelor's of Science from the University of Utah in Business Management in 2007 then went on to receive his MBA degree from the University of Utah in 2011. He has also received his Level One and Level Two National Administrator Certifications from Senior Living University.

Michael loves the residents and views them as his extended grandparents. His philosophy is one of excellence in service and care, where the residents come first. He believes that we are here to serve the residents. "If we put the residents first and treat them like gold, then everything else will naturally work itself out. Michael really appreciates the staff at Carrington Court and puts great emphasis into the facility's hiring procedure. He believes in hiring the best individuals he can find and then treated them like they are the most important asset, because they are! He believes that if you treat your employees well and pay them a fair wage and give them fair working conditions they will reciprocate that treatment and give the residents and their families the same respect and dignity that they receive."

Michael and his wife Krista have three children, ages 7, 4 and 2.

Michele Jones - Director of Nursing


Michele Jones is the Director of Nursing at Carrington Court. Michele graduated with her Associate Degree in Nursing in January 2010 and then worked as a Charge Nurse at Arlington Hills for two years before coming to Carrington Court. Michele has been the Director of Nursing at Carrington Court for a year now and is a spectacular member of our team.

Michele likes the personal relationships she develops with people as a nurse. Before becoming a nurse she worked as a real estate agent for four years, but never experienced the type of relationships and closeness that she has as a nurse. She loves getting to know people and helping them solve problems that may arise due to their medical conditions. Michele likes to educate people on conditions and medications.

Michele loves being the Director of Nursing at Carrington Court. "I get excited when we get a new resident, because I like meeting new people, it is like getting a new grandma or grandpa." Michele also enjoys the challenge of improving our resident care and working closely with the residents, their families, and our CNAs.

Michele has been married for five years now and has three wonderful children. Michele grew up in South Jordan really enjoys this area. Michele like to ski. She also enjoys camping and being outdoors. Michele enjoys spending time with her kids at different parks, because she enjoys watching how happy they are when they play. They also enjoy visiting Clarke's Planetarium, Children's Museum, and different aquariums in the valley.

Michele does a marvelous job as the Director of Nursing and is a wonderful person.

Tina Hoyt - Assistant Administrator


Tina Hoyt is Assistant Director for the Assisted Living Community. She is married to Clark Hoyt and has three children. After working in the mortgage and title business for 15 years she really wanted to go into nursing. Although some acquaintances were surprised by her decision to change careers she knew that she had to do work that she loved. After obtaining her CNA she worked grave yards in a memory care facility and with a home health and hospice agency caring for seniors.

Tina began working here in October 2009. She describes her job as an assistant to everybody. She does anything that needs to be done. She is wonderful with each resident. She says, "All of our residents are so different, unique and amazing. Every day I learn something new about them. It's not just a job. I am always learning special unique things about them. I feel that a lot of them have come into my life for a reason. It was meant to be. I was supposed to be around them. They were supposed to be around me."

She loves coming to work every single day. She says, "It is very rewarding. I look forward to seeing the employees, the residents and their families. I love to associate with family members. Everything is rewarding. We work as a team to make everything better for the residents. I like being part of a team where family members come up and say you have the best staff. Others, vendors, volunteers and visitors say the same thing about our staff. I feel grateful and lucky for all of the opportunities I have been given."

Melissa Hill - Assistant Administrator


Melissa Hill is the Assistant Administrator of the Memory Care Community. After working 13 & 1/2 years at American Express and almost 3 years at Circuit City she had a disappointing experience with a nurse at a local hospital. She had been thinking about going into nursing and this experience motivated her to pursue her desire so that she could make a real difference.

A year and a half after having her daughter she obtained her CNA and began work in the Memory Care Community at Carrington Court. She had applied at other places but when she walked through the doors she says, "it felt like home." Melissa brings rich experience in the areas of customer service and management to her position at Carrington Court.

Melissa assures excellent care is provided to each resident. She has great rapport with residents' families and makes sure that lines of communication remain open. She is enthusiastic about her work with the community, especially the Alzheimer's Association. Melissa loves helping anyone who visits, seeking advice or help in caring for a loved one who has challenges with their memory.

She says, "The residents are like my family. I treat them like they are my grand parents. I help the staff understand that to care for them we have to love them, understand their stories and learn about them. We try to create a family environment rather than a clinical environment. I believe in making their last chapter, the best in their book." Concerning families, Melissa states that, "Their family is as important as the resident because they are part of their story. It is important to understand the family's expectations. I have built close relationships with family members. Their family has become like my family. Some family members have continued to be part of our extended family even after their parents have left us. They have volunteered for trips and parties to continue to be involved."

Melissa teaches and trains our staff. She draws on their strengths. She tells us that, "Our staff work really well together as a team and draw from each other's strengths to develop new skills. They put the resident first. Every staff member cares for every resident not just their assigned residents. We believe that we have the best of the best. Staff help each other and work well with each other for the benefit of each resident."

Iva Jean - Certified Dietary Manager


Iva Jean Pitcher and her husband Jeff have 9 children. She has worked for over 20 years in the kitchens at Hotel Utah, Shriner's Hospital, Little America and the Hilton. She has also done private catering. She was the dietary manager at another assisted living facility in Salt Lake County for about 12 years when she took time off to care for her aged mother. She has two associate degrees and is a Certified Dietary Manager and a Certified Food Protection Professional.

She wants to provide healthy, nourishing tempting food that reminds the residents of the good times in their lives. Iva Jean says that, "The residents remind me of my mom and dad. It is like having many parents."

Iva Jean says that we have a good staff and that she enjoys working here more than any other place she has ever worked.

Diane Kunz - Activities Director Assisted Living Community

Diane Kunz and her husband, John have 2 children. She has been the activities director for the Assisted Living Community at Carrington Court since it opened. Prior to that she worked in the activities department of another assisted living community.

She says, "The residents are like family. When I plan things for them it is all about them. I want to plan things that they will want to come and do. I want them to be able to look at the calendar and have something to look forward to and feel a sense of achievement." "I love my job. That's why I do it. I like to do new things with the residents."

Kelli Knoble - Activities Director Memory Care Community

Kelli Knoble has been married to her husband Kevin for three years. She graduated in 2007 from Utah State University with a bachelor's degree in parks and recreation and a minor in therapeutic recreation. Kelli has worked with children and adults at various care centers, community group homes and other facilities as a recreation director, recreation aid and direct care staff. She has also worked with disabled individuals.

About the residents Kelli says, "The residents are very nice, kind and loving. They are always thinking about others. They are very giving and compassionate. You can tell that they love their families because they are always talking about them. They smile. I love listening to the residents and care deeply for their well being. I deeply love to help and serve others."

Kelli thinks that, "The staff are excellent and dedicated to helping. They are willing to help out and to jump right in on activities. They are really understanding and helpful. They do their jobs really well."

She likes sewing, going camping, shooting, water sports, four wheeling, scrap booking, crocheting and listening to music.

Tery Davis - Business Manager and Director of Human Resources

Tery is the business manager and director of human resources at Carrington Court.

Tery and her husband Bob have three children and three grandchildren. She started in banking and has done accounting for the past 20 years.

She enjoys making friend with the residents and visiting them as they stop by her office for a chat. She The residents seem to be happy and content.

Tery also works with family members to answer any questions that may arise. During her time here she has come to appreciate the residents and their families and has gained great insights about the aging process.

Tery works closely with the staff. She says, "I enjoy everyone that I work with. In fact, I look forward to coming to work every day. There is no place else I would rather work."

Tery is a crucial member of the Carrington Court Team. Please come and meet her.


Alicia Hall - Laundry Manager

Alicia Hall is married to James Hall and they have a daughter. Alicia says, "I love the residents. I look forward to coming to work every day. I love their stories and getting to know them. I am sad when they leave us. I love my job. Management support is great."

Before coming to Carrington Court, Alicia worked at a nursing home in upstate New York for three and a half years. Before leaving she rose to the position of manager of laundry services at that large facility. A work opportunity for her husband brought her family to Utah.

We are thrilled to have Alicia. You will enjoy getting to know her.


Mark Lacy - Maintenance Department

Mark Lacy supervises our maintenance department. Mark grew up in Millcreek and learned how to fix things from his dad. He graduated from Olympus High School and attended Salt Lake Community College. He has worked for Park City Mountain Resort and a title company. He came to work at Carrington Court in January, 2010.

When asked about our residents Mark says, "I love the residents. I love helping them. I love how thankful they are. It is great to get to know them, to know their past and who they are." Our residents also love Mark.

Mark also says, "I love working here. I love the staff. I love the management. I like my job duties. It is stuff I like to do. I like to fix things." Mark is currently working on a film production degree at Salt Lake Community College. He enjoys photography, snowboarding in the winter and riding dirt bikes in the summer.

Mark is a great asset to Carrington Court. Come, meet Mark and see how well the building is maintained.


Joseph Freeman - Transportation & Maintenance Department

Joseph Freeman drives our bus and works in the maintenance department. He joined our team two years ago. He has been married to Isapela for 37 years. They have four children and sixteen grandchildren.

Joseph brings a rich 30 year maintenance background to Carrington Court. He graduated in 1986 from BYU Hawaii with a bachelor's degree in industrial education. He taught one year for the Colorado Department of Corrections. Joseph worked 17 years for the LDS Church as a building engineer in Denver, Hawaii and New Mexico.

He retired from the Army National Guard after twenty one years of service. Joseph also authored a book, "In the Lord's Due Time" which was published in 1979.

He says, "I love working with the older people here. We have a great management and staff. There is a great feeling of fulfillment in taking care of the elderly. You get paid for doing something that feels like a life calling.
